Born in Ireland and fluent in French and Italian, Godfrey Deeny is a front-row international fashion critic who covers the runway shows of Milan, Paris and New York; intermittently attends the fashion seasons of Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Tokyo; and has met or interviewed pretty well every designer of note today.
He is a jury member of China Fashion Week in Beijing, Who is On Next in Rome’s Alta Moda season and The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award selection committee, the Oscars of fashion; and a visiting lecturer of Moscow State University’s graduate business school and the Paris Fashion Institute.
A regular contributor to Esquire, The International Herald Tribune, The Sunday Independent and Le Figaro, Godfrey is also the men’s fashion critic of The Financial Times. He is currently working on a novel about “closet heterosexuals” in the fashion industry.
