Cigarette Break
Muses inspire, muses are original, muses take cigarette breaks. From beyond The Great Wall she emerges, brought to life in elegant gestures cast in a haze of smoke. A pioneer of her era, and muse to French avantgarde designer Pierre Cardin, Pietrus brings to life the eclectic archives of Madame Song. Born in the Philippines and raised in the midwestern United States, Pietrus studied film, arts photography and painting at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before relocating to Hong Kong to pursue his photographic passions. After working as a portrait and news photographer, he made the jump into fashion – steering him to London to focus on editorial and filmmaking. His work is characterized by vibrant compositions, emblematic of the creative energy of the industry today. Today Pietrus employs the distinct stylistic elements of super-8 in his filmmaking, adeptly weaving fashion into compelling narratives and themes.www.johnpaulpietrus.com
