A devotee of the cinematic craft, Dirkes explores stop motion and time lapse animation. Working extensively across the far east, Canada and Eastern Europe, he obsessively explores the relationship between music and filmmaking. Relocating to the U.S. in 2004, he founded Labtest, an media art collective to create a VJ performance commissioned for Hipersonica International VJ Festival in Sao Paulo, Brasil and has continued to VJ/DJ and exhibit gallery shows, media installations and festival screenings worldwide.
